Thomas Carrick

Born and raised in Japan, Tom Carrick has spent the majority of his career in financial markets. Before establishing TDC Advisory, a hedge fund consulting firm in Tokyo, in May 2002, he served as Managing Director of Westpac Securities Japan and, over a period of 13 years, held various positions within the Westpac group both in Tokyo and Sydney.

Prior to Westpac he worked at Daiwa Securities covering both domestic and foreign institutions on fixed income products. Fluent in Japanese, Mr. Carrick has developed strong relationships with a wide range of Japanese financial institutions.

Mark Voumard

Mark Voumard was born in Melbourne and has lived and worked in Zurich, Tokyo, London, Hong Kong and Singapore. A fluent Japanese speaker he lived and worked a total of 17 years in Japan and holds both Australian and Swiss citizenship. During his career Mark serviced Japanese and Asian institutional investors in sales, marketing and structuring roles with a focus on Japanese, Asian, US and European equities, equity linked products and equity derivatives. Firms he has worked at include Baring Securities, Paribas Capital Markets, W.I. Carr (Far East) Ltd, Instinet Securities Japan and KBC Securities Japan.

He joined KBC Securities Japan, previously part of the D.E. Shaw Group in August 1998. At KBC he was successively Director - Institutional Sales Department, Director of Sales & Marketing, Director and Head of Marketing & Business Development (Asia). Mark established Maui Capital Limited in mid 2003 to focus on providing offshore alternative investment funds with access to Japanese institutional assets, prior to co-founding Teneo Partners in 2003 and subsequently Teneo Partners (Australia) Pty Ltd in 2005.

Currently writing a book on "The Marketing of Financial Products in Japan", Mr. Voumard is a member of several Japan focused and Tokyo based professional associations.

Stan Howard

Stan is a Partner at Teneo Partners Limited. He also serves as the Vice Chairman of AIMA Japan. Before joining Teneo Partners earlier this year, Stan was President Asia/Japan at Investor Select Advisors where he guided the firm’s growth in Japan and Asia for over six years. He has over thirty years of experience in dealing with Japanese corporations and financial institutions. Prior to joining Investor Select Advisors in 2000, Stan had been involved in the Tokyo hedge fund market for several years, working with the Tiedemann Investment Group to raise money from Japanese institutional investors and to provide follow on client services to them. He has been involved in the investment and securities industry since 1986 when he first joined Smith Barney before moving to Morgan Stanley. Stan began his business career in 1975 with Itochu USA where he worked with the Tokyo head office to develop new business lines for the Southeast US markets. He holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University.
