Thomas Carrick

Born and raised in Japan, Tom Carrick has spent the majority of his career in financial markets. Before establishing TDC Advisory, a hedge fund consulting firm in Tokyo, in May 2002, he served as Managing Director of Westpac Securities Japan and, over a period of 13 years, held various positions within the Westpac group both in Tokyo and Sydney.

Prior to Westpac he worked at Daiwa Securities covering both domestic and foreign institutions on fixed income products. Fluent in Japanese, Mr. Carrick has developed strong relationships with a wide range of Japanese financial institutions.

Stan Howard

Stanley Howard was born and raised in Japan where he has spent the majority of his life and professional career. Upon completing high school in Kobe, Japan he moved to the US where he attended the University of Michigan. Upon graduation from Michigan, Mr. Howard began his career with Itochu USA, importing steel and other commodities to the US. He then completed the MBA course at the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University before moving into the financial industry. Mr. Howard began his career in the investment and securities industry with Smith Barney Harris Upham before moving to Morgan Stanley & Company, where he headed the international institutional sales desk in Tokyo, marketing US and European equities to Japanese institutional investors.

Prior to founding and joining Teneo Partners Limited, Mr. Howard held the position of President Japan/Asia for Investor Select Advisors, a firm specializing in the management of Fund of Hedge Funds products. He guided the firm’s growth in Japan, not only creating Japan and Asian focused Fund of Hedge Fund products but creating a successful capital raising program in the Japanese domestic market, gathering assets from large institutional investors.

Mr. Howard has over thirty years of experience in dealing with Japanese corporations and financial institutions. He helped to launch the Japan Chapter of the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA), where he served as Vice Chairman for several years.

Mark Voumard

Mark Voumard was born in Melbourne and has lived and worked in Zurich, Tokyo, London, Hong Kong and Singapore. A fluent Japanese speaker he lived and worked a total of 17 years in Japan and holds both Australian and Swiss citizenship. During his career Mark serviced Japanese and Asian institutional investors in sales, marketing and structuring roles with a focus on Japanese, Asian, US and European equities, equity linked products and equity derivatives. Firms he has worked at include Baring Securities, Paribas Capital Markets, W.I. Carr (Far East) Ltd, Instinet Securities Japan and KBC Securities Japan.

In 1998 he joined D.E Shaw Securities Japan (part of the D.E. Shaw & Co group). The firm was acquired in June 1999 by KBC Bank N.V and renamed KBC Securities Japan. Mark was successively Director - Institutional Sales Department, Director of Sales & Marketing, Director and Head of Marketing & Business Development (Asia). Mark established Maui Capital Limited in mid 2003 to focus on providing offshore alternative investment funds with access to Japanese institutional assets, prior to co-founding Teneo Partners in 2003 and subsequently Teneo Partners (Australia) Pty Ltd in 2005.

Mr Voumard is a member of several Japan focused and Tokyo based professional associations and is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
